After a double podium finish in Thailand, Armaan Ebrahim along with team-mate Dilantha Malagamuwa have garnered two more podium finishes at the Sepang International Circuit this weekend in Malaysia at the on-going Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia Series. Driving for Dilantha Racing both the racecar drivers have performed well, acquiring second place in Race 1 followed by a third finish in Race 2.
During the qualifying sessions Armaan managed to be the fastest on the track, acquiring the pole position for Race 1 while Dilantha succeeded in securing position two for Race 2.
Strapped in the driver seat, Armaan was off the starting line leading the pack and managed to maintain a sizable gap before he had to pit to hand over the car to Dilantha. During the second half of the race the Sri Lankan was unfortunately overtaken, resulting him to finish second in the race.
Speaking on the results of Race 1, Armaan Ebrahim said: “In Race 1, I had a good start and led all the way till my pit stop with no drama. I even managed to build a comfortable gap, but after the pitstop as the race went on Dilantha was passed and we finished 2nd overall.”
Race 2 had Dilantha out first, starting from position two on the grid. He was passed by another car which he later managed to overtake, reclaiming the second position. After pit stopping to hand over the car to Armaan, the team faced a stop-go penalty following an early release in the pit by four-tenths of a second. Due to the unavoidable penalty, Armaan had to settle for third position.
Commenting on the Race 2 results, Armaan Ebrahim said: “In Race 2, Dilantha started and even though he lost a place at the start but fought back to second and held it till the end of his stint. When I got in, the gap to P1 was realistic. Unfortunately, I got called in for a 10-second stop-go penalty due to an early release during the pit stop. By early release, I mean four-tenths of a second! Anyway, I pushed hard and we lost only a place to finish third overall.”
